lenty of news stories in recent times around trademark disputes from Bentley Motors to Vera Lynn and the 'Sussex Royal' application. The point is that trademarking your business name perhaps together with your logo is a simple inexpensive (at least to register) process which can add value to your business especially when you are looking to sell it. You can instruct your lawyer, accountant or advisor or simply go through the online process yourself - see

There are also plenty of online providers who would be willing to do this for you.
It does surprise me how many owners who really value their business and have invested a lot of time and effort over the years have failed to take this action. Recently I was approached about the potential sale of a fast food franchise and they had not trademarked their name and logo - a very important part of the intellectual property aspect of a franchised business.
